Pirate day « Back
Pirate week was a ‘wild card’ week of planned activities for the children during January. Its aim was to inspire and further the children’s imaginative ability, focusing on numerical and sequencing skills, which we developed through activities such as children making treasure maps then following the maps to their destination. Looking for buried treasures in the sandpit and estimating contents of buried jars and boxes. Once all the treasures were found, the children enjoyed counting them and sorting them. All foundation classes helped make a pirate ship for everyone to play on. The children had lots of fun and developed many of their skills in a pleasurable and exciting way. We had great fun and at the end of the week, all the children received Pirate goodie bags.
