Aquarium Visit

Our Nursery classes visited the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo in Dubai Mall. We followed the Penguin parade programme which is designed for Early Years. They learnt about sea life and all the different water creatures. The educators took them around the water zoo, teaching them concepts such as colour, pattern, sequence and language. We all had lots of fun and the children were very well behaved!

Pizza Express Outing

This term the Foundation classes visited Pizza Express and learnt how to make pizzas. As well as this trip being a fun day for them all, we managed to cover all of the 6 areas of learning, specifically concentrating on Knowledge and Understanding of the World.

Cooking classes for children are rich with skills, tools and knowledge that they will have with them for the rest of their lives. All the children were eager to learn how to knead dough and experience new tastes. Cooking and eating is both a wonder and a mystery for children. We help them discover how it unfolds, measurement, chemistry- all of it. After all, teach a child to cook and you feed him for a lifetime!

Assemblies

This term the Nursery class topic was ‘stories’ the children have been looking at and learning about different story books. Each class then did an assembly to show their parents the different skills that they had learnt from some of their favourite stories. In Jumeirah the assemblies included the stories of The Very Hungry caterpillar, Handa’s Surprise and the Gingerbread Man.

In Mankhool the Nursery classes each staged a performance of The Gingerbread Man. They acted out the story with songs and poems. This was the culmination of a wide range of learning about emotions and feelings, reflecting upon the gingerbread man’s behaviour and how the other characters in the story might have felt. The children were also able to learn a lot about farm animals and the jobs people do on farms.

The feedback at both schools was fantastic, both the children and staff did an excellent job!

Learning about the different stories has given the children some knowledge on how important books and reading are throughout our lives. Reading is an important skill that needs to be developed in children. Not only is it necessary for survival in the world of schools and (later on) universities, but in adult life as well.

The Foundation classes have been learning about ‘Our World’

In Mankhool the Foundation class assemblies celebrated an Around the World theme in many different ways ranging from sports, drumming, song and dance, shadow puppets, some Arabic and a dramatic interpretation of the story, Handa’s Surprise.

In Jumeirah the children recited a song in Arabic that they had learnt, dressed in their National dress and each individual announced where they were from in the world. All of the children participated in making the props and a backdrop of the world map. They also created an exhibition to show the wide range of all of their learning.

Graduation 2010

The Learning Ladybirds went to Cite des Enfants at Mirdif City centre where they took part in a wide range of scientific experiments. They worked in a group to make a dam and to release the water, created enormous buildings balancing the building blocks, and shone different coloured lights making patterns in a dark area. It was an amazing opportunity to learn through doing. Everybody loved it!

Yummy Lunches

As a Nursery we are promoting healthy eating to our children, we have been promoting Yummy Lunches within the Nurseries to help and guide you as parents. Yummy Lunches helps parents give their school-aged children healthy and nutritious choices, conveniently. Parents and children plan and choose lunches together, Yummy Lunches prepares and packs orders in our health certified kitchen and delivers to schools just in time for lunch.

Kids love being involved, having choices, and the taste. Parents love the convenience, peace of mind and the healthy path they have started their kids on. If you wish to start using this service please call and enquire at Reception.
